Did you check fuel pressure? 9--13 psi, you'll have to tee gage into supply line. Your local auto store should have what you need for checking fuel pressure. If fuel pressure too high, check return line. Also, check coolant temp sensor, I'm not saying replace it, don't replace anything unless your testing points in that direction. Can you check for applicable trouble codes? Does your check engine lamp still work? As far as coolant temp sensor, take connector loose, use jumper wire between the two terminals on electrical connector, then start, it should make computer think, the engine is hot and cut back on the fuel. I'm going by what your telling us, the fuel system is running rich for some reason.

Haven't check fuel pressure. Left out fuel pump is new but I guess that doesn't mean anything
