My check engine light does not work

Asked by Victoria Aug 04, 2017 at 10:47 PM about the 2001 INFINITI I30 Touring FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car keeps failing inspection because the check engine light does not
work.  The mechanic says its $116.99/hour to run diagnostics and could
turn out its not a bulb could be in circuit panel which would have to be sent
off to be refurbished and the first part of getting in the panel could be 1.2
hours, and then if not a bulb, the second part can take 6-7 hours plus
sending off for repair.  Has anyone had to do this? Which is it?  A bulb or
circuit LED light or a fuse?

Law doesn't require an INSTRUMENT CLUSTER Test while doing the SMOG Emissions Testing. He May have put himself in a predicament by telling lies. Find yourself a new Mechanic and tell him Your CLUSTER Light Is not lighting properly, He should have no problem with that.
