2000 Mustang GT has odd tone sound

Asked by Julieness Jul 26, 2013 at 08:10 PM about the 2000 Ford Mustang GT Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This tone is not like seat belt ding, ding, but a solid tone, abt 1 second long, goes off intermittently, now and then, lasts a minute, sometimes 2 or 3 minutes. It's a warning of some sort, but what? No dash warning lights go on.  ABS light is on, but tone came on waaaay before that. I don't think it's related to ABS light at all. What is this tone from??

If the ABS warning light bulb for the cluster burns out or has a problem it will trigger the noise, also check the plug at the air bag module it's in the dash usually behind the radio. you could also have an air bag fault and if the warning bulb is burnt you wont know it. other than maybe something is wrong with the chime box for the doors and key in the ignition.
