I'm the original owner of a 2008 Hyundai Sonata. Less than two weeks ago it hit 100,000 miles. This past week the timing chain failed. No warning at all. Changed oil less than 3,000 miles ago.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drove to work one morning and the car ran great! No engine light, no
sounds. I went to go out to lunch and the car started rough and the car
shook.  I've taken this to two garages and the results are the same. Timing
belt failure and half the valves are damaged. Cost $3,000 and up. Since I'm
just over the 100,000 miles by 255 miles, will Hyundai cover the repair
costs?  The car ran great until this occurred.

I doubt it. Timing belts should be changed around 60,000 miles. Plus this is a 9 year old car.
