Please help!! 2007 Jeep Compass

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My jeep will turn over but not start. I was
out of gas so i grabbed an old gas can
and possibly put in bad gas. I added 4
gallons of good gas. Added heat in case
water was in gas can. I agree with you. I
am an idiot. Engine stopped starting. I
assumed it was bad gas or a bad fuel
pump. Mechanic is telling me it has a
bad computer. I am out of work right now
and cant afford anything. Feel free to
admonish adding the gas i agree this
might have been prevented had i not
added the "gas". Any help will be
appreciated.

The check up for the computer is to scan the vehicle for DTC codes. if its displaying codes chances are very good the computer is Ok. WHY, does the mechanic think the computer is BAD?

Thanks for the response. I didnt ask why he suspected the computer. I will now. Also i didnt mention the possibility for bad gas to them. Probably should huh? I am freaked out fixing a car. I am a car idiot. Not sure what to say. I fear being taken advantage of. My instinct is to not trust the garage. Those same instincts made putting the bad gas in the car seem like a good idea though. They are extremely busy. Took 3 days to look at it. i dont know if being so busy is good or bad, probably means nothing. Again, thanks.

Just don't ever run an older car so low on gas if their was bad gas or water in it it goes to d bottom of your tank an sits there it will rust your tank eventually the good f will pump through your engine
