New alternator

Asked by GuruC6HDX Mar 06, 2019 at 11:39 PM about the 2008 Hyundai Elantra GL FWD

Question type: General

I replaced my alternator, which was unreasonably
expensive to my mind, after initial smooth test run,
it started idling low, and motion from a stop is
sluggish? Is the new alternator my culprit, or do I
have signs of a larger conspiracy at play?

After I can only guess, 10 years of service, it wore out. I've only had the car 4 years now. Was driving between jobs when the battery light came on, luckily I happen to have a charger in the trunk, but on a full charge it'll only get you like 4 starts, and short hops between. Trying to be cheap and get one from a junkyard turned out to be fruitless, apparently drivers with the 07-10 models of this car have an unprecedented low crash rate. So after biting the bullet, purchased a reman one at advanced auto for 205.
