Battery saver mode and stiff steering wheel

I have a 2013 dodge journey, the battery saver mode light came on and
immediately the steering wheel is now stiff and won't turn; pressing the break
pedal to start the car is now difficult. I am not sure what is causing this sudden
chain of issues, can you please help?

In most cases the battery save mode light indicates a faulty alternator and or an issue with the charging system. It also means your vehicles battery is now not being properly charged. Why it is effecting the steering, is the pulley on the alternator might be seized , not allowing the serpentine belt to function properly and slowing your power steering pump down. I suspect you have noises under the hood? Have it looked at ASAP because at some point the vehicles battery will be drained and the serpentine belt might break, and you will be stranded somewhere.
