Why does the battery saver mode come on

The purpose of the "battery saver mode" is to prevent running down the battery by accidentally leaving on the lights or some accessory while the motor is not running. Things turn off automatically after about 10 minutes. That way you don't come back to a "dead car" after parking it with the lights left on. Incidentally, cars without this preventive feature will usually start after a few minutes after turning off all electrical loads and waiting for the battery to recover. I hope this helps.

Yes, this does help. I work on cars, and know that Dodge has a system on my 2012 Journey R/T that makes it impossible to kill the battery by leaving any of its lights on. My alternator (Dodge calls it a generator in Alldata ) just failed this morning, and while it did not fail completely, it would drop to 12.0 to 11.9 volts at idle, then up to 13.6 above 1800 RPM, all of these numbers being well below normal. But no red dash light, only the "Battery Saver Mode" message. And the battery was still good. And FYI Journey owners, if your vehicle has keyless entry, pay very close attention when shutting the engine off. If you stop, give the off button a quick push and exit the vehicle, you may have accidentally pushed the button twice, and left the ignition in the accessory on position. And that will NEVER turn off, resulting in a dead battery. Trust me, I've done it twice since 2013. Always look at the indicator lights around the Start/Acc/On button to be sure the ignition is OFF before you exit the vehicle.

How do l get my 2013 Dodge Journey out of battery save mode

"MAN" I wish there was a simple answer for those of us who own Dodge Journey's. My car (2012 Journey ) started doing all the same things ie: dash flashing and dinging, display going out, speedo stuck or drops to zero while in motion, just a ton of things and so I took it to a mechanic who put it on the scope to find out the battery was the problem. Well since I know how to change a battery ( By the way the battery on these cars is in front of the drivers front tire, you have to remove the tire and the inner fender well plastic ) I went and bought a new battery and headed home to change it. When I got it all apart and went to remove the battery, I noticed the negative post was just a tad bit loose but believe it or not that little bit of looseness caused "ALL" of my electrical issues. I took off both posts, cleaned them, and then attached them tightly and the problem was gone. Returned the battery and saved $220.00 YAHOOOOOOOO.. This was a good 6 months ago and I haven't had the problem arise not even once since then. Good luck

yes yes, he does it rarely when the car is running, but it doesn’t affect anything, the big problem is when he eventually doesn’t want to turn it on, I’ve already changed the battery, I made a new key, but when he gives this problem he’s about 15 minutes without start and then call normally.

I have all kinds of weird stuff happening. Sometimes the car start fine Sometimes I have to jump it. Checked the alternator 14.1 with everything on. Then while driving it starts with a battery light then goes to battery saving mode then lastly parking assist pops up with check engine light and ABS Light. I keep thinking battery but I would assume the alternator would keep the power consistent after starting when producing 14.1 v..... any thought?

Ya know when all this crap was happening with my journey, I was almost ready to burn the bloody thing and take the loss cause I was so pissed off that no one could find my problem. I had all the same things your having, my display wouldn’t show up so I could press the connect button, heater/radio wouldn’t come on , the dash gauges would stop working or else they’d flip back and forth so I never knew how fast I was going. All of these things and still the mechanics couldn’t find the problem. I contacted Dodge and “THEY” couldn’t find it. The first time it happened, I went to change the battery and that’s when I noticed the ground side was a tad loose so I tightened and the problems went away as soon as I started the car. Some months later it started happening again so I replaced the battery but it didn’t help, my alternator was fine so I was stumped. Well it turns out that the first time it had happened ( My brother was helping me at that time ) my brother had somehow twisted the ground cable and cracked the battery sensor that’s attached to the negative post on the battery. I guess it took a few months for it to finally crack really bad and then the problems started again. This was a year ago I guess I since I fixed the battery sensor on the negative post, I haven’t had one single issue. These cars are super sensitive so all I can think of really for you is to clean the post’s and the cables til they’re like new again. Also replace your battery sensor on the negative side. The only thing that happens with my car ( and it’s been t his way since almost new ) is that I still sometimes have to try 1-2-3 times to start it because there’s something screwy with the push button start. I gave up trying to figure it out lol cause it always starts on the 3rd attempt if it doesn’t start the first time. Usually a 50-50 chance it starts the first push of the button. I hope you get it fixed cause I know it sure is annoying

Hi Everyone, I have a 2013 Dodge Charger R/T. My Battery Saver Mode comes on intermittently. I leave my radio on when turning off the car but usually nothing else. Today, I left my radio on and when I got back into my car and started driving, I saw the message indicator on my display. It was the BSM. But it wouldn't turn off while I was driving. Is this normal? Should I start turning off my radio before I turn off the car from now on?

My radiator fan relay went out so the fan wouldn't shut off so my Journeys battery would die. This happened twice until we figured out what was wrong with it. We replaced it and it works just fine, except now the battery saver light comes on and shuts my radio off within 30 seconds of driving. Does this mean my battery is now not holding a good charge? Will it not go off until the issue is found?
