How do I get rid of transmission clunk?

Asked by Evadver Aug 27, 2015 at 11:58 AM about the 1999 Honda Accord LX V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 99 Accord has a clunk when it shifts while driving at lower speeds. I had the fluid changed and was told the shop couldn't change the trans. filter. Honda service center said that there isn't a filter! will probably have to replace trans! Really?

Sounds like they should check the motor mounts. Broken mounts can cause a clunk when when shifting.

Oh ok you can try something but no promises that it is going to work but you can try adding some Lucas Transmission Fix Stops Slips. Like I said no promises but it is worth a try.

Mine has always had a rough clunk shifting at lower speeds and to be honest, it just keeps on going. I mean its a real hard shift, but no real problems in drive-ability. Its a 1996 Honda Accord Wagon, LX.
