Low fuel - Loss of power

Asked by HuggyBear123 Jul 15, 2018 at 08:40 AM about the 2012 Volkswagen Golf Trendline

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi everyone. I have a well looked after Trendline TSI, 2012 1.4 Turbo Mk6 with 72,000 miles.

She runs like a dream when the fuel is over 1/4 tank. But as soon as we get to that level, the engine becomes erratic and I get a sudden loss of power. Pull to the side of the road, wait a couple of minutes and then the engine starts. If I fill with fuel - presto, no issues at all. It's almost like the fuel is cutting off when the gage goes below 1/4 of a tank.

One new development. When it happened today, the catalytic convertor warning light came on.

Any ideas?

Huggy
