Distributor help!

Hey!
My car broke down in the middle of the road with no
warning. It wouldn't even turn over. I had it towed to a shop
for a diagnostic after determining there was gas and that it
was not the fuel pump. They came back and said the
distributor was busted and that they weren't sure how it
would run after because its mostly original parts and needs
a tune up. So, I got it towed to the house. Bought, and
replaced the distributor. Made sure the firing order was
correct. Now it turns over, but still won't start.
Any help would be really appreciated. I am really only
starting to work on my car, I replaced the radiator last year
and the door regulator a few months ago. So, I don't know a
whole lot.

First thing is you need to check coil,and make sure you have fire at spark plugs,if car died on you while driving,i would lean toward the coil pack being bad.

Consider buying a Haynes or a Chilton's manual for your car. You can learn a lot of valuable information that can save you thousands. Learning by "doing" is the best way, but you still need a teacher or at least a guide book. It sounds like your timing is still not in sync with the distributor since removing the old distributor but unfortunately that may have not been the issue in the first place. Throwing new parts into a car will end up costing you more than bringing it to a reputable mechanic. DIY only if you know what the issue is and you feel confident enough to complete the job.
