Distributor cap

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On the distributor cap that's hooked up to
my car has 5 wires coming off of it but the
one I  just bought to replace it only has 4
spots on it. The fifth wire goes to something
completely different then the spark plugs.
What do I do

Take it back and if possible take the old one with you and make them exchange it
