Ford ranger high RPM to climb hill

Is it ok to run my 2003 ford ranger at about 5000
RPM to climb a hill on the high way. It feels like the
truck has very little power and needed to be floored
to make it up the dang hill. How long can the
engine be at 5000 rpms before things go south?

Something is wrong with your engine if you have to run at five grand to get up hills. I would address this before you blow up your engine.
@F_O_R What do you think would be the issue? When I’m on the the level highway it runs just fine. But, when it come to climbing hills it def requires me to floor it.

It could be a small tear/hole in your intercooler hose, when at normal speed it does not push that much pressure through the hose to the turbo system, but when you have to climb a hill it will have much more pressure that then leaks out instead of going through to the turbo system.
@guru99 Is this an easy fix? How do I do trouble shooting on this issue?
