How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? My first thought was a closed throttle issue? You let off the throttle when you go to shift. If you have tac/throttle actuator control, check codes for that system. Clean the throttle bore and throttle plate, see if it helps. Don't force the throttle plate.
