Camshaft

Asked by Puff7680 Jul 09, 2018 at 07:47 PM about the 1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS RWD

Question type: Car Customization

I have 5.7 350 small block and I have no idea what type of camshaft to get for it.
I'm not looking for a super crazy cam just for the street and maybe a few seconds
of wide open throttle but you get the point. I'm only 17 so I'm asking guys who
know much more about this stuff than I do. I have stock heads and double strings
(a tiny string inside of a big string). Thank you .

Honestly your best bet it to call someone like Comp Cams, tell them what you have and your goal, they'll be able to pick a cam out of their catalog that suits your needs best. In around 267 degrees of duration is usually pretty good for a spirited street car if my memory serves me correct

Comp cams flat tappets wipe out everytime, and there roller cams are turning to CRAP also. Go on Facebook and join building big and small blocks..
