Transmission replacement in 2001 Ford Taurus

I had an Transmission replaced in a ford 2001 Taurus the engine came from an
2003 not the check transmission light comes on even thought it run normal but
it's scary i don't want to get stuck anywhere the guy that fixed it says it will stop
after a while and the computer learns the shift pattern is this true i'm really
ready to get rid of it at this point.
