what what is wrong with my air conditioner if it won't even turn on

It's out of freon or it could be the relay for cluch or the compressor s bad.find the AC relay jump it with a paper clip if the compressor turns on it's good.then go to Auto zone buy a AC gauge hook it up to the low pressure line and if it's in green then you have freon in it. The gauge is about 10 bucks. If those are good get the relay tested. My Gus's is your compressor took a crap.

Not to worry. The most common problem is low or no charge of Freon. This low pressure condition trips it off to protect the compressor until it gets a charge then it should start up. If completely empty, it will take up to two 14 ounce cans of 134a, commonly and incorrectly called Freon. The whole kit at WalMart is about $20. Good Luck.

If it's completely empty you will have to evacuate the system if there's out side air in the system and you charge it it will destroy the intier system in about 6 mounths. Freon and moisture are extremely corrosive. Trust me I know it happened to me. If it's empty they will hook up a vacuum pump to the system. If there's some freon in the system then your good you can charge it..
