2001 ford ranger 4 wheel drive probs
2001 ranger xlt. front differential will not disengage. when I take it out of 4 wheel, the transfer case does disengage. However, the front driveshaft remains spinning. My mpg have dropped by about 3 plus mpg. had to pull
the front driveshaft. highway speeds where vibrating the truck. What is the mechanism that disengages the front?. this year, 2001, is not vaccuum activated. Any thoughts?
Your hubs may be locked. Are they automatic or manual?
they are automatic. I was told that 2001 up to whenever, the front axles are always engaged with the tires. The front differential is supposed to disengage with the front drive shaft. I know 2000 and back, are vacuum lock hubs. any help out there? thanks
