Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car has 117k miles and I’ve never did a
transmission flush. I’ve heard once you’re car goes
over certain amount of miles you’re  not supposed
to change the fluid. So my question is it safe to do
a transmission flush now at 117k likes or no?
Thanks.

Yes most definitely do a flush and filter change asap. I'm guessing your actually slightly overdue and if you look at your owners manual, it will tell you how often this should be done for your transmission and your engine. Much like the vacuum in your home needing a new bag or the filter cleaned, your auto engine and transmission are no different. Fresh oil and a new filter keep any contaminants from destroying critical parts and keep you out of the repair shop.

Okay, I had took it to the Honda dealership and the mechanic said NOT to it since it was over due. I think the recommendation is @60k, That’s why I was asking.

No flush! Just change the filter and fluid. Flushes can cause problems.

I would agree if your mechanic is doing a "reverse flush". This type of flush not only pushes particles through the system backwards causing them to be forced into seals but it also can dislodge actual chunks of material that plug small passageways. My bad for not specifying the type of flush.

No matter the mileage you can always change the fluid.
