2001 Ford Escape Ignition Alarm

I'm at my wits end with this stupid car! My key in
ignition alarm will not turn off! With the key out of
the ignition it constantly goes off - doesn't matter if
the doors are open or closed. I originally thought it
was a door alarm, until I got to pulling fuses, and
the pulling the fuse for the ignition alarm made it
stop, but the car doesn't start without that fuse. So
the alarm just dings and drains my battery.

After some research, I replaced the ignition starter
switch, this worked the first time after driving it,
when I turned off the car, no alarm! The second
time, the alarm came back on. What gives? Please
tell me I don't need a whole new ignition. I don't
want to have to pay for all the coding. Should I try
lube? Obviously something in there is sticking.

Either the ignition cylinder or the pin that runs from the cylinder to the ignition switch is binding and not allowing it to rest in the off position completely. The key cylinder is able to be built to match the original key. A locksmith or seasoned mechanic should be able to do this for you if it's beyond your comfort level.
