why wont my 2005 328xi go into gear. I can move the shifter freely but it grabs
nothing and there is a malfunction light that says drive slowly t6o a BM3W
serviceb center

I think you already know the answer Shane. The transmission will need servicing. You can have a local mechanic look it over for you vs the dealer.
