Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am getting an intermittent alert (check engine light) for my Oxygen sensor per
the code I'm getting.  Do I need to do anything with this and is this a hard  DYI
job to replace?
Thank you!

This is the downstream oxygen sensor that monitors the catalytic converter. It's screwed into the exhaust system, which is very hot, after the catalytic converter. Before you replace the sensor check the wiring going to the sensor. Low voltage can mean the wiring is damaged by the heat from the exhaust system. Hope that helps! Jim

It's not a common thing for you to get a sensor 2 code, it usually indicates that something has actually damaged the sensor or wiring. In all my years I think I have only replaced a handful of rear O2 sensors and all of those had some kind of damage like from road debris or impacts. So do a good of checking things out before just throwing parts on it. Yes it is a fairly straight forward replacement if you need to go that route.
