Is there a fuse inside the ECM

Asked by Christopher Jul 31, 2023 at 11:00 PM about the 1998 GMC Jimmy 2 Dr SL SUV

I believe my ECM is bad and noticed a small cover
held on with two screws on ECM, underneath is a
rectangular black box with ten or so pins,is this a
fuse?if not what is it ,curious that's it's accessible
this way.

That is the EPROM it gets transferred to the new ECM

Only if the numbers on the used unit match the one that is stock in your rig. But then you shouldn’t have to transfer anything cause they are numbers matched.
