The lift gate unlocks with the key only. Not a power lift gate. When you press the unlock on the key it makes a noise like it is unlocking. But the lift gate will not open.

My ford 2013 Edge limited has a power hatch. It opens only partial and closes. It also closes partial and then goes back up. What can I do to fix the issue? 1 Answer
The power hatch is not working properly. It will open only partially and then close by itself. It also closes partial and then goes back up. It is rare that it does what it is supposed to do.
