Water got into cylinder from the top

Asked by GuruH5THS Jul 04, 2019 at 07:32 PM about the 2003 GMC Envoy 4 Dr SLT SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Was doing a tuneup on 4.2 straight 6, and when I
removed cylinder 3 or 4, I heard water go into the
cylinder. Now CEL is on and flashing and I got a
P0300, no other code. New spark plugs, ignition
coils, and oil change. Will it eventually clear up?

Do not drive with flashing CEL!!! Betting it's raining where you are. Our platform has a known issue with bad hood seals back at firewall. Do yourself a favor, buy a roll of stick on insulation and run it the length of the hood in front of the current hood seal. My bet is you have water in #4, 5, and possibly 6. I use a telescoping mirror to look down each hole, wrap a papertowel around a long screw driver and dry up each cylinder. Then install the weather stripping, problem fixed. I've installed this on 3 Trailblazers, zero problems in 5 years.
