2014 Subaru Impreza Premium AWD CVT starts fine, but doesn't move when shifted.

Asked by Sam Feb 25, 2021 at 03:24 AM about the 2014 Subaru Impreza 2.0i Premium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2014 Subaru Impreza Premium Automatic Transmission, I
purchased this vehicle today from a dealer who got it at auction. His post
said it was a bad transmission, but he explained he bought it from Carmax
auction 3 weeks prior, he didn't have time to fix so he's reselling. (NO WORK
DONE TO IT)

The car has 130k miles it starts and the engine runs great, but if I put it into
gear, the car doesn't move at all. I'm willing to do any size job, I'm just
looking for a little direction.

I went to AutoZone to get the codes checked, and it said p0700
(transmission control system) , p2750 (Intermediate Shaft Speed Sensor "C"
Circuit Range/ Performance, p2746 (same but "B").

Dash Lights are: Hill Assist, CEL, AT OIL Temp, Traction Control, ABS.

I checked fuses and Speed sensor I believe, the oil on the sensor was nearly
black. Haven't done anything else. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Time for a new transmission. I hope you got the car for free. Look for a good used transmission.

I was thinking the same thing. I found one for 500 at a junkyard with 45k miles. Will this guaranteed fix my problem, or is there any chance it could be something small like a harness or Transmission Control Module? Could it be a smaller part, like a valve body, or just a short in a wire to those sensors? I don't want the possibility of swapping it, and it still not working. Thanks for the help!

You want a guarantee? Spend the money to have a Subaru mechanic diagnose the problem. Given what you say and the bad reputation of the Subaru CVT I think it is time for a "new" CVT. If the CVT fluid is black you have all the information you need.
