Oil temp info pic is off the chart and has no num?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So oil temp gauge goes off I get no check engine light no noise I just see it as I
scroll the menu at times. it happened first after an oil change where the oil filter
cap was damaged. a replace meant order was made but mechanic said to wait
till next change to do a swap due to the fact ill lose lots of oil and its a waste.
but the car did not like that and the check engine light came on and as I check
it was the oil temp. went back did the swicth and car was good for a few days
then I started ti see the temp gauge go crazy but this time not engine lights.
What the hell is this. Could it be the oil temp sensor or the oil cooler filter
adapter or the oil pump?

You can crawl inside the trunk by releasing the back seat. Then there should be a trunk release near the latch. A real pain to do but that’s it. I did it on mine a month ago. If you battery needs jumped it under the hood. Should be labeled with a red rubber fitting on positive. On passenger’s side.
