Intermittent Remote Start

Asked by GuruPJYVR Jan 30, 2020 at 06:49 AM about the 2014 Chrysler 300 C John Varvatos Luxury Edition AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Remote Start doesn't work some times. All other Fob
function operates properly. It seems to fail intermittently in
extreme cold. If I get in the car and start normally then shut
it off, the Remote Start will then work.

If you have remote start issues always start with replacing the batteries in the remotes, always. Also most remote starts will not work properly if the check engine light is on.

Check engine light is not on and I have the problem with both Fobs that each have new batteries, plus all of the other Fob function work fine.

The engine can be started two consecutive times (two 15-minute cycles) with the RKE transmitter. However, the ignition switch must be cycled to the ON position before you can repeat the start sequence for a third cycle. So, you can ONLY remote start the car two-times, thereafter you will have to start the car with the key BEFORE the remote start will reset and become available.

My wife's 2016 300 is having the same issue. If it's above freezing, it'll start. But below freezing, the lights blink once but then the car doesn't start. I replaced the key fob batteries but still having the same issue. All the other key fob functions work. Did you ever find a solution?
