How to remove etched water spots/acid rain from windshield?

Asked by GuruBZJ6K Jan 05, 2019 at 01:16 PM about the 2010 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My windshield is covered with etched water spots/acid rain. It seems to be
etched so much that the windshield is smooth and you can't feel the raise of
the water spot.

I tried using CLR, vinegar+water, and even a razor blade. None of these
methods seem to work.

Any specific techniques or products that you guys can recommend?

I'd show a picture, but don't think you'd be able to tell how etched in they are
without actually feeling it.
