If you are just dropping the pan to change the filter I think the amount is about 4.5 quarts but the total system capacity is around 14 quarts.

If there is a plug on the torque converter so you can drain it along with dropping the pan, about 8 quarts. Just dropping the pan and changing the filter, up to 4 quarts. Do not have the trany flushed!

I'd change the fluid and filter.

You say 4 w/pan & 8 with torq converter(if it has dran plug, which no 1 seems to have video on how to), but the other 4?, I have a not too far fetched theory.. are sitting in radiator transmission section, & all the hoses. Is there a drAn plug on that 1?
