can you use conventional oil instead of synthetic?

Asked by seans2307 Aug 17, 2016 at 03:00 PM about the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro 2LS Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i just had my first oil change done after the 2 yrs of free oil changes at the
dealer. I went to a place I am familiar with and was shocked to find my oil
change was $70! I generally always pay no more than $30 without a coupon.
That was with my toyota solara tho. What am I missing?

Yes, you can switch back and forth from synthetic to conventional and back again. The only possible exception would be a vehicle with MANY miles on it, like 100,000+. The best place to have your vehicle serviced is at the dealership. They know their vehicles inside out, just do not let them up-sell you on things you don't need.

Some cars recommend synthetic. If that is the case then you need synthetic. Otherwise get whichever you please

@tennisshoes I know this is 2 yrs old. But you have got to learn to read the entire question before answering. He said he paid 30.00 but that was with a completely different car which is why it was so cheaper. It probably didn't need Synthetic oil. Where as the car he has now does and that is the reason for the price difference.
