I have a 89 firebird formula that starts up but wont stay running but then after awhile it will start back up but wont stay running for very long

Check the fuel pressure,sound,s like your fuel pump may be bad,

Make sure the spark plugs and spark plug wires are good and do a complete tune-up on it make sure everything's tuned up on it that helps too.
