I have a 87 firebird that i put a th350 tranny in. Can i take my torque arm off since my torque arm bracket wont bolt up to my tranny? Why or Why not?

All 3rd gen camaro's & firechickens has to have it on it. That's what holds your rearend in place. Without it as soon as you hit the gas your rearend is going to destroy the driveshaft or total rip the rear suspention out. You can buy adjustable bracket for the 700R4 so you can adjust the pitch angle for better traction. Not sure if they have one for th350. Also a heads up about the driveshaft if I'm remembering correctly. The stock driveshaft is going to be short for the th350 because the 700R4 is longer. Now if you were installing a powerglide tranny you could use your original driveshaft. I used to drag race my 85 I-ROC. I installed a powerglide tranny to the 383 stroker motor that I was putting in the car. Back then gas prices didn't kill your wallet so a 2 spd. tranny was a great set up.
