will the crank postion sensor cause the car to not fire

my 2003 ford Taurus will crank but not fire  so I want to know if the crank postion sensor will cause it not to fire

If it is bad, yes, it would cause the engine not to start. Should have the vehicle scanned for any trouble codes.

There are other things that could cause this concern as well. Bad coil, no fuel, theft light.... and others

Crank sensor that has become heat sensitive will keep engine from starting even though it seems like it wants to. Similar to out of gas but stops almost immediately after firing off. Once engine cools for about 20-30 minutes starting is no problem. Raise hood to hasten the cooling of the bad crank sensor.
