1985 ford ranger xlt 4x4 manual transmission

in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears theres a rattel noise. plus a knock happening several
times as i accellerate but decrecess in 2nd and even less in 3rd, in 4th gear the
knocking and rattel stops driving just find. can anyone tell me what this is thats
going on,  thanks
