Battery want charge

Normally you can tell if the alternator is trying to charge the battery by holding a screwdriver at the back of the alternator while it is running and you will feel a .magnetic attraction to the screwdriver [being careful not to get your fingers or the screwdriver caught in the fan belt.] This is a quick way to test the alternator for working. You need a voltage meter to test the battery and while it is hooked up to test id a charge is being sent to the battery. If it frozein a state of discharge it may be useless.
