Vin Number Locations On 1986 F-150

I've got a 1986 F-150 given to me by a family friend
since he's gotten a newer truck and doesn't need
this one anymore. The VIN has been been removed
or painted over on the door (It's a "factory" color
but it's been repainted). And I don't see it along the
dash either. Where on the body would I look to find
it specifically? I've heard axel's and engine bay but
does anyone know specifically so I'm not scouring
the engine bay forever or laying under the car
longer than I need to?

Did you look through the windshield on the drivers side? It probably is on the dash.
