2013 Honda Civic did not start, was told it was the battery. Should there have been a warning on my display that the battery was bad?

Thank you, I had called AAA and they came and told me it was the battery and did change it for me. I just thought after he left why the dash never showed anything. I feel a little better now. I just am always taken advantage so I trust no one.
