Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I can buy a 1987 z24 cavalier with a digital instrument cluster...the odometer
doesnt work. What are my repair options? How difficult would it be to install and
analog cluster instead?

It's usually best to go with what the vehicle was designed for , The original can be refurbished

Converting any car's instrumentation between digital & analog, when the car has a computer, is nearly impossible. It isn't just change the gauges, you have computerized controls that need to be changed as well. Making this conversion might cost what the car's worth.

Have you checked things like the vehicle speed sensor and the speedometer cable? The cluster may be fine. Or you can send the cluster out to be rebuilt. That's the way to go in my opinion. Hope that helps! Jim
