As owing a 944 for the last 17 years, you couldn't buy a more dependable car. They are built to last and if you do the normal maintenance as required, they will soldier on. Mine is a 1983 and I drive it at auto-crosses and track days. There is no headache in owning a well-taken care of Porsche. I'd do the trade in a minute after you've brought the 944 to a Porsche shop for a check-out. The guy getting the Dakota is the risk taker, not you. Good Luck
