Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my 93 dodge dakota is acting weird, ive made other posts but i cant find them. this is for
anyone who can help (judge roy) helped last time i think. my truck idles hard checking the
iac tomorrow, just realised that it will idle up to 2000 or more, then it will go way down
under 1000 then go back up, not even hitting the gas pedal, it idles up and down by itself.
then it pops in the exhaust and shakes the truck and engine if i hit the gas, popping
sounds comes from behind the cab. sounds like the engine is misfiring or something. if its
running rough, and im driving it wont go over 20 and it chokes bad, and responce to
pushing the gas is weird.. i can hit the brake to the floor and it will still move slowly, like
5mph. but i can drive it for awhile or turn it on and off and it will work perfect eventually,
drive good brake good, excellerate good no misfiring etc. im not too smart with cars, so
any help works. i dont have a diagnose meter either. thanks

Try a set of spark plugs first. They may not be firing the cylinders when cold and the warmer it gets the better they fire.

Try a bottle of sea foam for the injectors too. If it still has problems try an IAC Idle air control valve and a TPS sensor, throttle position. These are known for those 2 sensors going out.
