Asked by rroman2828 Jun 10, 2019 at 03:57 PM about the 2013 Ford F-150 FX4 SuperCrew 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drive a 2013 F150 ecoboost 3.5L 4x4. 110K miles.
Had issue with oil pressure drop at idle and back to normal once gas pedal
was pushed.  No issues with power, driving or noise.  Truck runs perfectly.
Checked engine. No oil leaks observed.  Change oil regularly and timely and
oil level has never dropped.
Replaced the oil sending unit,(which is a pain the a@# to get to, and not
fun,,lol).  and no alarm or drop in pressure for about a week.  However the
low pressure drop alarm now pops up for a few seconds and returns to
normal while driving.  Still no issues with driving, power loss or anything out
of the ordinary.

Where did you buy the sender? Sounds like the sender still is bad or the oil pressure is low. You can check the oil pressure by temporarily installing a mechanical gauge where the sender goes. I would ONLY use a genuine Ford part in this situation.

Got it from autozone. Had several excellent reviews. Guess I’ll order one from ford. Was hoping not to have to change it again. Or at least any time soon.

I'm wondering since the location of the sensor is so close to the exhaust manifold if it could be a wiring problem, had a similar issue with a 01 neon and the crank sensor, thought it was the sensor but turned out to be the wiring was to close to the exhaust by design and the wires kept making a false contact, just a thought, having same issue with my 2012 shop truck and looking for answers
