change all fluids, should pull plugs and prelube engine, drop of oil down each cylinder, pull the coil and crank engine to get oil pressure up before firing it up. Don't drive it until you've gone through the brakes. 9 years is long enough for a brake line to rot away. Should bleed brakes out to change old fluid anyhow. Gas tank may have also gunked up after that long. If you have the option, drop the tank, clean it, and change out fuel pump and filter.

I have a 1997 Nissan PU XE . the other night, my brake lights came on spontaneously. It was late so I thought somebody was trying to scare me, but there was nobody around. I could not get the lights to turn off so I pulled the fuse. The next day , I found pieces of a black plastic button on the floor board. This is an automatic transmission. Any guesses as to why my brake lights came on and is it related to the button pieces I found? 2 Answers

my '96 nissan pickup started running hot and I was not losing fliud. The fan comes on, the oil is not milky so I changed the thermostat. The first day I drove it and ran it for a total of 25 minutes. Temp was fine. Second day drove for 10 minutes and ran hot. Drained and flushed radiator ran hot again after 10 minutes. After it cooled, I did have some water loss.
