my heater control won't switch from defrost to vents 1999 dodge dakota

when air is on it only blows from defrost vents and in floor won't switch will
change sometime when going slow down hill changes back when speeding up
again

You have a vacuum leak in the climate control system. When the system loses vacuum it defaults to defrost for safety reasons. Check in the engine compartment for a broken, cracked, or disconnected vacuum hose. Hope that helps! Jim
