Rubbing tires

Asked by Tanya May 29, 2016 at 04:18 PM about the 2013 Chevrolet Impala LTZ FWD

Question type: General

My tires have been rubbing since I got the car with
about 20,000 miles on it. They are 18 inch low
profiles. Wondering if this has been a problem for
other owners?

First, compare the size on the tires with the size listed on the tire information plate in the driver's front door jam. If the tires are bigger, that could be the issue. More likely is that the front of the vehicle has contacted a curb, parking stone, or otherwise been damaged & dislodged the plastic inner fender in the wheel well, and this is what's rubbing the tire.

Also, if the wheels themselves are not original to the car, that could also be a problem, if they do not have the right backspacking or offset, or are just larger or wider than original.
