Inspect and possibly replace fabric timing belt at 100,000 miles. Replacement is $1500 at the dealer, others will do it for $500. Lots of foreign cars have the pesky timing belt too. And if they break, the engine will be destroyed....has interference engine. Other than that it takes normal maintenance. Being a turbo, run synthetic motor oil which is more tolerant of temp extremes and oil gets cooked at the turbo bearings, especially when parked hot. Maybe check a VW owners website. They speak from experience of ownership.

Don’t do it!!! I have a 2013 and we are having all sorts of problems with it! I purchased it from VOLKSWAGON LITHIA SPRINGS 3-4 years ago. We maintained the route service but last year we started having computer issues. Everyone I’ve spoken with that has this model has experienced the SAME issues! Volkswagon no longer manufacturers this model because of its issues so the car has depreciated TREMENDOUSLY in value! Don’t buy this car!

First of all it has a timing chain not a belt, I have a 2010 and love every minute of it. We live in Buffalo NY so I drive this vehicle year round and have over 70000 miles on it. Will buy one when the 2010 is done.

I have had mine for 6+ years. Have had no problems except those caused by Texas sized pot holes. Still love the car. Followed the manual for annual check ups.
