Boot emblem and rear camera issues

Asked by Guru9ZX227 Dec 02, 2020 at 11:22 PM about the 2012 Volkswagen CC VR6 Executive 4Motion AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi All,

So for some reason, the boot release on the boot lid of my 2012 cc (facelift
model) has stopped working.

The boot will open if I use the release lever from the drivers seat or if I use
the key fob, but not if I press the VW emblem release on the boot lid.

The vw emblem seems to still have some functionality as it still pops out with
the reverse camera.

My research suggests this could be the wiring harness.

I popped off the boot trims and there are two harnesses, one from the left
and the other on the right. My car is a right hand drive (Australian model).

I contacted VW and they advised the harness part numbers 3c8971182k and
3c8971192c. If it could be the harness, does anyone know which harness
connects to the VW emblem for opening the boot?

Also, after jiggling the cables, now my camera does not display when
reversing. The emblem still pops out, however the screen in the car displays
a "Camera not available" message.

Any ideas whether these symptoms indicate a particular cable needs to be
replaced? Which cable feeds which devices?
