I have a 2001 Durango RT. Is it possible to disable the AWD option to run in 2 wheal drive?

well the truck runs in 2wd all the time until it senses wheel slip thats when the awd kicks in, disabling all wheel drive still would do nothing because your still turning the transfer case and front shaft, the only way to do this would to pretty much take out all 4wd parts

All you have to do is remove the front drive shaft, that will make it 2 wheel drive

I removed my front drive shaft and now my truck does not even drive...

It depends on what t-case you have but usually you dont have that option. If your switch in the dash says awd you can´t. If you remove the front drive shaft it won´t move unless you have 2wd option on your 4wd switch.
