'01 Dodge Dakota Transmission Problems

In my '01 Dakota i cant shift properly. I have to go underneath the truck and
move the leveler into Park, then i can shift into R-N-D-2-1 But then cant go from
Drive to park (1-2-D-N-R-P), PLEASE HELP
