2001 dodge dakota rough start die no star just turn over

Asked by mydodgedakota2001 Jun 30, 2016 at 01:24 PM about the 2001 Dodge Dakota SLT Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I can start my truck once a day and it will run
about 15 to 20 seconds then die don't matter if
I floor it or pat the gas it just dies fuel pump
works and I replaced the fuel filter but if I try
and crank it the second time it won't start up it
turns over and all just won't start and run.
Could it be a EGR valve or IAC valve? Any help
would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Whats the fuel pressure at the fuel rail in PSI, EGR isn't cause for a NO start. IAC can cause a NO start try pressing the accelerator pedal to allow air into the engine... IF the IAC is choking off the air supply engine. After you get the fuel system working have the vehicle read for DTC codes

Okay, will give it a try. I have not checked the fuel pressure. That is something I need to do. Thank you for eliminating the egr for me will check the IAC or at least clean and see If it makes a difference. Thanks for your time. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
